Building Up is uniquely structured as it provides trainees with both the training and wrap-around support of a pre-apprenticeship program as well as first-hand experience of working on-site for our non-profit social enterprise, construction company. As Canada’s leading workforce development social contractor, Building Up leverages construction contracts to prepare Torontonians facing barriers to employment for successful careers in the trades.
Through the partnership with Goldfinch Energy (started Oct 2025), Building Up provides homeowners with high performance insulation and home electrification work (heat pumps, electrical hot water options and electrical work).
High Performance Insulation
Our insulation work is competitively priced and uniquely focused. Most insulation work only focuses on insulation. Typically, an insulation project provides an opportunity to reduce air leakage which is often a top source of heat loss in a home. By working with a variety of insulation materials and smart membranes, we help homeowners make intentional choices regarding the materials.

HVAC and Electrical Work
Our HVAC work fouses on helping homeowners electrify. Our team of HVAC contractors has decades of experience with heat pumps and won’t try and talk you into a gas appliance. We’ve helped homeowners avoid the costly upgrade to 200 Amps service by calculating your historical electricity load and working with contractors who value the emperical approach to electricial load calculations.
