Solar Generation

Goldfinch Energy helps homeowners generate their own electricity.

Solar is an excellent choice in Canada

Many municipalities across Canada including Toronto offer a net metering program. You generate the power and offset your electricity bill (sometimes paying just the monthly connection fee).

Goldfinch clients with cleantech such as electric vehicles and heat pumps choose solar. They cut carbon emissions by switching off of gas-powered vehicles and gas-heating systems. They save in the long term by offsetting their electricity bills with an appropriately sized solar system.

Sizing your system

A typical residential solar array in Toronto is about 5 - 10 kilowatts (kW), which takes up 37 to 74 square meters of roof space (or 400 to 800 square feet).

As a guideline, a 10 kW system provides enough electricity to run an average home (excluding heating). If you’re building a new home or doing a comprehensive renovation, it’s possible to achieve efficiencies so the solar array covers all your electricity usage including heating.

Goldfinch Energy can help you determine if your home is suitable for solar as part of our energy audits.

“It is truly a joy to generate renewable energy and pay nothing for my electricity bills.”
